FLYIN’ V BUCKING BULLS PARTNERS

Words are hard to come by when talking about your folks, and the journeys in life experienced with them. The term “Dad” is earned not given, and David Kelley (my step father) has been my Dad since I was 3 years old. They have watched me travel down some pretty  sketchy roads in my life, and pursue some not so beneficial goals. When they witnessed my focus in the bucking bull business continue to grow, and I chased those dreams for the right reasons they were on board with Joey and I for the duration. It is a blessing of life to see your parents happy and eager about the path you chose; and then to put their “stamp of approval” on it by being the first to financially partner on your first real good bull. And then a couple years later they step up to the plate again and buy half interest in yet another bull is just a God thing in my mind. They are my parents, my friends, my support cast, and owners of two great PBR bucking bulls of ours…

Don is my biological father, and yes he is also my Dad; I mean really who gets lucky enough to have two great Dad’s? Well you certainly have to factor God in the equation to understand and appreciate the uniqueness of this relationship and how well it works with the one above. I remember when I first told Don that Joey and I were really going to focus and strive to get to the premier level in the bucking bull business, the PBR. He asked, “the what, what is the PBR?” he had no idea what any of this was really about. So he began to educate himself on the bull business, and the PBR as well, and soon the call from him came our way. The call was simple, he said, “I want to be a part of this journey with ya’ll, I want to have that vested interest not only in the bulls, but in my kids as well”. I thought WOW, he really believes in us and wants to use bucking bulls to keep us close, and as much as he enjoys sports, this will keep him close to the action. Well I am so very proud to say that Don (also my Dad) owns half interest in 2 of our bulls, #67 Tucker has more outs than any bull we own, and fires every time the gate opens.

Such a different story in many ways, most of which is coincidence and immediate fondness of two guys from different backgrounds that met in a different industry. I met Steve Cosby almost 5 years ago now, and friends ever since the first handshake. Steve is a man of passions just like myself, he believes he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to, and his wife and kids back him 100%. They own one of the neatest sports bars around, and Steve serves as Chief of the fire department as well. Steve and Kristen both told me for months to find a bull they could own part of with us, and I’m sure it felt like an eternity to them but I found one, and we just went forward. They have owned half of #S5X “Shackles & Chains” since he was a 2 year old, since then the bull has dropped off a little performance wise. I asked Steve his thoughts, told him mine, and his answer was simple,” he said just find us another one that bucks harder and more consistent, and lets continue to go forward”. That is a testament as to the kind of people I have been so blessed to know in my life, and we love having Steve & Kristen as a permanent fixture in our

bucking bull business…
